Food Voucher & Delivery Scheme
Who is it for?
Solar is for anyone in our community who may need short term assistance getting food and provisions for themselves or their family.
There are many reasons why someone might need help, for example:
-
Sudden loss of income
-
Unexpected change in circumstances
-
Irregular work or zero hours contracts
-
Shortfall in benefits
-
Family breakdown
-
Illness or disability
-
Increasing costs of living
How does it work?
Solar offers support in two ways and it is your choice; whatever is most convenient for you or your situation.
Voucher
You will recieve a Co-op voucher to pay for your shopping. This can be topped up remotely if continued support is required.
The voucher is the same as a standard gift card, the staff at the counter will not know where it has come from.
Delivery
If it is more convenient, we can also provide you with a delivery suited to you or your families needs.
This could include fresh and non-perishable food, toiletries, household essentails, pet food, etc and will be delivered in Co-op bags for life.
We promise confidentiality
Solar recognises how difficult it is to ask for help within a small community.
The service is completely free, confidential and discrete, and your privacy is very important to us, so if you or someone you know needs help, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
What is it for?
Solar is intended to help with daily essentials, such as:
-
Fresh and store cupboard food
-
Toiletries
-
Household essentials
-
Cleaning products
-
Pet food
Through no fault of our own, we are all facing increasing costs of living. Solar can offer support to cover the costs of day to day essentials, and please let us know if you need help with anything else, such as energy bills.
How can I access it?
We live in a small tight-knit community and we care for and trust our friends and neighbours. Solar has no strict eligibilty criteria, and you will not be asked to provide any proof of difficult circumstances.
You can access Solar in two ways:
